C O MP O U N D.

soooo. one of my favorite stores in the Portland area is called compound. it's have clothing store half urban art thing.. i love the upstairs gallery. it has fantastic photography, and other trippy art that i wish i could think of myself. THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES:)

it basically was a series of people who look like they were drawn with graphite and then BLAM. paint is flying from their heads!

my brilliant idea: make one of me. with some form of noticeable natalie body? except.
i already have a cooler idea for the first AP self portrait project which i;ll probably post about lataa.

go to compound? 5th and Couch. in the pearl. across from upper playground....
and i guess there was a shooting on 3rd n couch the other day. sketch..-_-

j u n e 2 0 1 0

June was a life changing month for me this year: going to New York for the Scholastic Art Awards, and then on to France and Italy to see tons of amazing art.

Some of my favorite pieces of art from other award winning students...

this was a silver medal portfolio piece done with acrylic paints...

and i believe this was a gold medal photograph...
i was really inspired by these two pieces in particular because
they seemed so simple and unique in style. getting to see other
students' work was probably the most inspiring.

i also went to the MOMA in NYC... :D
Picasso& Andy Warhol classics.

i was really lucky to visit when i did because i have an interest in printmaking and they happened to have an exhibit on Picasso's prints. SICK. &&& scholastic students got to take our own private little tour around the museum and talk about some of the famous pieces. we spent a long time looking at the noodies that Picasso painted above^^

the busy month ended with some ooold school art in Europe..

*photos not allowed*stealthy shot from my pocket with the phone...

overall sickest trip ever and gave me mucho inspiration to hopefully bring out in class this year. eventually i'll have to go back -_-

t h e f i r s t.

first post of the year!
i'm looking forward to getting to see all the art this year in ap:)
